“I look at arrangers as a kind of magicians. They can take any piece of music and transform it into a sparkling burst of notes, chords and harmonies that open up the unperceived spaces around the basic melodic structure of a tune. I had a few opportunities to watch great arrangers at work and it was always relentless, exhausting and exhilarating all in one. My recent recording session with the arranger Jordan Stockdale was my latest chance to experience the magic of strings arranged around my songs. Like a kid in a magic store, I just want to hear more of what the sublime talent of Jordan Stockdale can create with notes.”
